Lawyer loses fight for share of mum's £1.7m

A CORPORATE lawyer has lost an inheritance fight with her nephew after claiming she gifted him a onethird share of her mother's £1.7million fortune "by mistake".
Marie Ginette Gauchenot reconnected with nephew Jean-Michel Canarapen, from whom she had previously been "estranged", at her mother Brigitte Maghoo's funeral in 2021. She "developed a considerable degree of love and affection" for him, it was said.
Ms Gauchenot, right, was in charge of administering the estate of her mother, consisting largely of a £1.7million house in Fulham, west London.
