Late Tierney winner sends nation crazy as Scotland clinch place at World Cup

THEY say good things come to those who wait.

And if Scotland's thriller with Denmark is an omen for what's to come, their first appearance at a World Cup in 28 years is going to be something truly special. Not since 1998 has the Tartan Army flocked to a host nation to cheer on their country in pursuit of the Jules Rimet trophy.

But on a night where Hampden Park was bubbling with nervous anticipation, few could have expected what was about to unfold before their eyes.

Scott McTominay took less than three minutes to cut through the tension with the goal of his career - an incredible bicycle kick that will live long in the memory.

Yet the drama was still to come as Denmark twice battled back - first through Rasmus Hojlund's penalty, then through Patrick Dorgu's 81st-minute equaliser - after sub Lawrence Shankland had put Scotland back in front.
