Kemi: Tories could means-test pensions triple lock in future

THE Tories could means-test the pension triple lock if they return to power, Kemi Badenoch said last night.

The Conservative leader said her party had backed the triple lock while in Government but had to "keep growing" with their approach to the policy to help future generations. Mrs Badenoch's pension reform signal comes after Shadow Chancellor Mel Stride said the guarantee for pensioners was "unsustainable".

The triple lock ensures the state pension rises in line with inflation, earnings or by 2.5%, whichever is higher.

Last night, Mrs Badenoch told LBC's Iain Dale: "Means-testing is something which we don't do properly here.
