Kemi: Axed Post Office boss was out for revenge

KEMI Badenoch has described a series of claims by sacked Post Office chairman Henry Staunton as a "blatant attempt to seek revenge following his dismissal".

The Business Secretary's remarks came during a Commons statement yesterday in which she rejected allegations made by Mr Staunton in a Sunday newspaper interview.

She also told MPs the former chair was being investigated over bullying claims before his dismissal.

Ms Badenoch said allegations relating to his conduct, including "serious matters such as bullying", were being examined and concerns were also raised about his "willingto co-operate" with a formal investigation ness Mr Staunton sparked outrage when he claimed he was told by a senior civil servant to "stall" spending on compensation to sub-postmasters ahead of the next general election.

The former chairman, sacked by the Business Secretary last month, suggested the alleged request was linked to concerns about the cost of payouts for the scandal sparked by the faulty Horizon IT system.
