'It's a disaster...one woman said to me her husband is so addicted to bread she sprays bleach on crusts in the bin to stop him eating'

Dr David Unwin — a GP who has brought 200 patients back from the brink with low-carb diets that reversed their type 2 diabetes — revealed to the Daily Express that one woman was reduced to spraying unwanted bread with bleach before throwing it in the bin.

This was to prevent her out-of-control husband from gorging on scraps in the middle of the night.

Dr Unwin, inset, continued:

"She said to me he is so addicted to bread that she has been putting liquid detergent on any crusts that she puts in the bin.

"But then she said liquid detergent isn't enough to stop him eating it — the only thing that works is spray bleach."

The GP, who is married to Dr Jen Unwin, added:

"If you're not a food addict, this case helps to understand how desperate somebody may be. It's a disaster."
