It's a colourful and cold start to 2026
Daily Express
|January 01, 2026
WHILE Australians were having a blast with their New Year summer celebrations, Britons wrapped up for a very fresh start to 2026 - with several cold weather warnings issued.
The alerts from the UK Health Security Agency were upgraded to amber yesterday, and cover the whole of England until Monday.
Meanwhile, the Met Office issued a snow and ice warning for Scotland today - with another covering a large swathe of Wales and England tomorrow. Up to 5cm of snow is forecast across a 250-mile band from Cheshire to Kent.
