DIVER Dom Robinson is feeling buoyant... he’s fulfilled his childhood dream of owning a shipwreck by buying one for £300 on Facebook Marketplace.
The 53-year-old project manager snapped up the SS Almond Branch and said: “I’ve dived it before - so I knew what I was getting!”
The steam-powered cargo ship was torpedoed by a German sub off Dodman Point in St Austell, Cornwall, on November 27, 1917, with the loss of one life. It has been 50ft underwater since.
Dom, a project manager from Portsmouth, said: “The government stopped selling shipwrecks 20-odd years ago, but I always quite fancied owning one.
“I was like, ‘Bingo, this is my opportunity to own a shipwreck!”
