War veterans take to the sky at combined age of 200
THE sky was the limit for these two fearless Second World War heroines yesterday as they took off in a pair of vintage Spitfires.
Veterans Dorothea Barron and Robbie Hall took centre stage for a thrilling "thank you" flight, some 84 years after the Battle of Britain raged overhead.
The treat went some way to rewarding the veterans, who have a combined age of 200, for their roles in the Allied victory.
Signaller Dorothea, from Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, turns 100 next month. She lied about her height so she could join the Women's Royal Naval Service in 1943.
