Homes insulated in state scheme suffer from damp or mould

ALMOST all homes fitted with external wall insulation under a flagship scheme suffer from major issues and need fixing, a government watchdog has found.

Around 98% of the properties some 22,000 to 23,000 - face problems such as damp and mould, said the National Audit Office.

Six per cent - and 2% of those fitted with internal insulation present immediate health and safety risks, it added.
