Isidor’s the daddy as late-show specialists do it yet again

- BY IAN MURTAGH

NETFLIX have surely missed a trick in failing to bring out a third series of ‘Sunderland 'til I die’.

The title, however, would need a slight amendment.

These days it's all about ‘Sunderland ‘til the end’.

Whoever thought up that slogan, famously brandishing it on a giant tifo before last season's Championship playoff semifinal with Coventry, deserves a knighthood.

Or at least the Mackem equivalent.

Because ever since its unveiling, Sunderland have become the masters of the grand finale, the stirring comeback and the last-gasp goal.

Whereas the past fly on the wall documentaries highlighted the club's alarming fall from grace and the start of its resurrection, any new one would be stirring and upbeat.

Chariots of Fire and Escape to Victory rolled into one.

The storyline reads like fiction but for Black Cats fans it’s been more like fantasy.
