HAVING a familiar face in Emma Raducanu’s camp at the Miami Open made sense to Tim Henman.

- By Yasmin Syed

Mark Petchey, who coached Raducanu in 2021, has been supporting the world No.60 over the past week.

Raducanu arrived in Miami without a coach, ending her trial with Vladimir Platenik after just 14 days, but has reached the quarter-finals and will face Jessica Pegula today. She was joined by fitness trainer Yutaka Nakamura and “big sister” figure Jane O’Donoghue before turning to Petchey, who is in Miami with the Tennis Channel media team.

Former British No.1 and world No.4 Henman understands why Raducanu has chosen to seek help from a familiar face.

He said: “Was I surprised? Yes and no.

“Petch is at a lot of these tournaments, working from a media point of view, and he’s obviously worked with Emma in the past.
