Harris surging in bellwether state as women shun her rival

KAMALA Harris is leading in Iowa where Donald Trump had held a huge lead and comfortably won in 2016 and 2020, a shock poll suggests.
The midwestern state usually backs the winning candidate in presidential elections, only bucking that trend in 2020 and 2000 this century.
The vice president is three points clear of rival Mr Trump, thanks to older female voters, pollsters at Des Moines Register/Mediacom said.
Iowa was easily won by the Republican candidate in 2016 and 2020 and in June he had an 18-point lead over Joe Biden, who was the Democratic nominee at the time.
