'Further disasters inevitable' at Notts stab attack NHS trust

THE families of three people killed by a schizophrenic man in Nottingham say the NHS trust that treated him is “not safe” and should be put into special measures after a report criticised its mental health services.

The relatives of Barnaby Webber, Grace O’Malley-Kumar and Ian Coates said there is “real fear” that “further disasters are inevitable” as the findings of an inspection of Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust were published yesterday.

Valdo Calocane, who has paranoid schizophrenia, killed students Mr Webber and Ms O’Malley-Kumar, both 19, and school caretaker Mr Coates, 65, and tried to kill three more people in Nottingham in June 2023.
