Hundreds drown out minister at conference

Furious farmers will ramp up tax protests

CAMPAIGNING farmers will swoop on supermarkets next week when they step up their fight against Labour's inheritance tax raid.

They plan to park outside every major supermarket next Friday in a bid to speak to members of the public and win them over.

It comes after hundreds of farmers descended on Oxford yesterday to drown out a speech by Environment Secretary Steve Reed at a major conference.

Scores of tractors lined up outside the Oxford Farming Conference, at the university's Examination Schools.

The tractor horns could be heard inside the venue as Mr Reed answered questions from furious farmers who say their livelihoods are at risk from Chancellor Rachel Reeves' tax policy.
