Frasier star angers his neighbours with plan to demolish cottage

KELSEY Grammer's neighbours have slammed planners for approving his home demolition - claiming it will "spoil the village and attract crime".

Residents say the US actor's project for his seaside house is an example of "the rich and famous doing what they want".

Frasier star Kelsey, 70, has been given the all-clear to demolish a historic 200-year-old home despite several complaints from people living nearby.

The Cheers actor had earlier failed in a bid to build an extension but has now been told "no prior approval" is needed to get rid of the cottage in a village near Portishead in Somerset.

But some residents say the wealthy have priced local people out of the community.

Wendy Osment, 74, who lives nearby, said: "It's such a shame because it's a beautiful building with character. It's old and part of the community.

"I've lived here all my life. I've got grandchildren and they can't afford to live here.
