Fox: 'Being labelled racist has destroyed my life and career'
Daily Express
|November 28, 2023
LAURENCE "destroyed" Fox's life was by "hurtful" racism allegations and he was left unable to get a mortgage as well as being dumped by his agent, the actor has told the High Court.
The Reclaim Party founder, on the fourth day of a libel trial in London over a tweet, gave evidence about a decision by Sainsbury's to provide a safe space for black employees during Black History Month.
Mr Fox called for a boycott of the supermarket in October 2020 and was called "a racist" by the drag artist Crystal, former Stonewall trustee Simon Blake and actress Nicola Thorp.
The 45-year-old subsequently branded each of the trio a "paedophile", prompting a libel action by Mr Blake and the drag star, also known as Colin Seymour.
Mr Fox, who denies being a racist, is counter-suing the three over their tweets.
In his written evidence, he said he was "horrified" when he saw he had been called a racist, which he later described as "a career-ending word, and a reputation-destroying allegation".
He continued: "It was very hurtful, firstly as it is not true and secondly because it was baseless.
It felt as if the claimants had posted it to try to destroy me.

My urge for nightly toilet dashes are now out of control
I'm a 78-year-old woman and lately have been getting up three or four times in the night to use the toilet. It is not too much of a problem but I've noticed that by the time I get there, I have leaked, even though I get up as soon as I need to go. Last night, as I made my way to the bathroom, I wet myself so much it just gushed out of me, which is rather disturbing. I don't have the same in the day although I do feel the need to go, but don't do much. What do you suggest?
