The Bluebirds dominated the opening exchanges, with Yousef Salech netting early on to cement the visitors’ command ‘on the game.
But Kieffer Moore offered Cardiff a real scare with his goal just after the break.
However it was Fish who proved the hero at the Racecourse Ground, lashing in his first-ever Cardiff goal in front of the travelling fans, who erupted when the defender's volley thundered into the back of the net.
