ONE of Britain’s oldest farmers has vowed to plough on at the age of 96 — and says he still enjoys the work.

Farmer, 96, has no plans to be put out to pasture

Russell Ling has worked on his family’s Grange Farm since he was 16, but was lending a helping hand from the age of nine.

It’s thought he could be the oldest active farmer in the county — if not the country — and has no plans to stop taking part in haymaking, ploughing and rolling.

Mr Ling, from Otley, Suffolk, said: “I don’t know what I would do with myself. I would rather do something outside. I have been working all my life — you shouldn’t just stop and I enjoy doing the work.
