ENGLAND'S players are under pressure to rescue a teetering World Cup campaign that is in danger of bringing a golden era of white-ball cricket to its knees

It is the players who must find a way to get the tournament back on track to show that this format still means something even when it has been low down on their priorities for the past four years.

England are not the only team to have largely turned their backs on ODI cricket since 2019 with the number of matches and bilateral series falling off a cliff as the behemoth of T20 cricket has taken over.

But their indifference to the format having been so laser focused in trying to win it for the first time in 2019 is perhaps most noticeable.
