Drones drop off fat-loss drugs to prisoners

IMAGE-CONSCIOUS prisoners are having hair and weight-loss drugs flown into jails by drone.

Chief Inspector of Prisons Charlie Taylor says the medications have been found along with cannabis, cocaine, ketamine and ecstasy.

And he said the remote-controlled aircraft have caused huge problems as new technology makes them able to carry larger loads that can be delivered more accurately.

Mr Taylor is concerned that soon drones could be used to smuggle guns, explosives or other weapons to prisoners, who could then use them in a prison break.

He said: "The other day, a head of security sent me a list of the contents of a package that arrived in their jail, and it was astonishing.

"With real accuracy, organised crime gangs are able to drop off large amounts of contraband into prisons and are often making enormous amounts of money as a result of it."
