Driver sentenced for killing 3 pals in high-speed crash

A NEW driver has been sentenced to two years in a young offenders institution for killing three teenagers in a head-on crash.

Edward Spencer, 19, also left two children and their stepmother with life-changing injuries after losing control of his Ford Fiesta while speeding on a country road.

Spencer, who was 17 at the time of the crash, had only passed his driving test six weeks earlier.

But a court heard that videos shared on social media revealed a history of "showing off, driving too quickly and failing to heed the warnings of those who were in the car with him".

Harry Purcell, 17, Tilly Seccombe and Frank Wormald, both 16, were killed in the April 2023 crash.

They had all been passengers in Spencer's car when he hit an oncoming vehicle in April 2023.
