POLICE have arrested a man after a woman dog walker was left fighting for her life following an alleged attack on a country path.

A male cyclist found Anita Rose, 57, lying unconscious with serious head and brain injuries at 6.25am on Wednesday on a track off Rectory Lane, Brantham, Suffolk.

Her iPhone and the pink zip-up jacket she was wearing were missing. Her springer spaniel Bruce was unharmed beside her.

A 45-year-old man was held at around 1pm on Saturday on suspicion of attempted murder.

Devastated

He is from the Ipswich area and thought to have been unknown to Anita, say detectives. The suspect is being quizzed at the Police Investigation Centre in Martlesham near Ipswich.
