Hakkinen sure Norris can end long Verstappen reign

- Daniel Moxonn

TWO-TIME McLaren title-winning hero Mika Hakkinen is "absolutely" convinced that Lando Norris will follow in his footsteps.

Hakkinen won back-to-back championships in 1998-99 and since then only Lewis Hamilton, in 2008, has claimed the title for the Woking-based team.

Norris, 25, was runner-up last year, finishing 63 points behind Red Bull's Max Verstappen.

But the Briton enters this season as the favourite for glory, and Hakkinen believes Norris can live up to the billing.

"Absolutely, yes," the Finn replied when asked if Norris can be champion.
