THE son and brother of a former Post Office worker who died an alcoholic after she was wrongly convicted over the Horizon computer scandal are locked in a court fight over her £578,000 compensation payout.

- By Nev Ayling

Dawn O'Connell died aged 57 in September 2020, only seven months before the Appeal Court overturned her conviction for false accounting over alleged cash shortfalls at the branch she managed.

She was one among hundreds of workers wrongly convicted over the use of the Post Office's Horizon accounting software, resulting in a scandal immortalised in the 2024 ITV drama Mr Bates vs The Post Office, starring Toby Jones.
