Cops failing to record ethnicity of sex fiends

POLICE "cannot protect children" and confront grooming gangs if they do not know the ethnicity of child sex monsters, a senior Tory has warned.

But two thirds of the perverts do not have their “ethnicity recorded” by forces, police chiefs admitted.

This is despite Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood insisting police record the details. The instruction came after Baroness Louise Casey’s scathing rape gangs report found crimes committed by Pakistani or Asian grooming gangs were covered up to calm community tensions.

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said: “66 per cent of perpetrators have no ethnicity recorded. You cannot protect children, you cannot spot patterns, and you cannot confront grooming gangs if two-thirds of the data simply isn’t there. Police should be recording this information wherever possible. Self-declaration alone is nowhere near good enough.
