Depicting a tranquil landscape and painted in the 1920s, the work is part of an exhibition at the wartime Prime Minister’s country home.

Churchill gifted the painting called Quiet Waters to his close friend Lord Beaverbrook for his 80th birthday in 1959.

Visitors to Chartwell in Kent will also have the chance to see Churchill’s Savile Row-made painting coat and steel-framed spectacles up close for the first time. The paint-spattered cotton coat is witness to the many hours he spent creating more than 500 works in his art studio and outdoors.
