Christmas attractions among hardest hit by rates revamp

TOP festive attractions will be hit with sharp hikes in their property taxes next year following the Chancellor's overhaul in business rates.

Analysis of official figures has shown that a raft of Christmas destinations, such as London’s Winter Wonderland and toy store Hamleys, will face increased payments from April.

However, some festive favourites, like Harrods, will see their payments fall.

In last’ month’s Budget, Rachel Reeves announced the current 40% discount for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses — which is capped at £110,000 per business — will end on March 31.
