Not a proper one. Long gone are the days when their kind would sit down with the likes of the great Sir Robin Day and let themselves be subjected to a full-blown interrogation (yes, thumbscrews, rack, the whole works: the Seventies really were such fun), sometimes for as long as 45 minutes.

As a political interviewer these days you'd be lucky to be granted 10. And you could pretty much guarantee that your interviewee, whoever it was, would give you nothing of any value in that time, nor admit to any weaknesses, failings or flaws.

As for the viewer, he or she would be better off watching Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, or possibly the mould forming on a piece of Wensleydale.
