Blowing, blowing, gone! Volcano island vanishes

SATELLITES spotted a ghost volcano emerging from the sea - only for it to vanish.
The instant island popped up from the depths of the Caspian Sea after a blowhole erupted in 2023.
But by the end of last year it had nearly eroded away, retreating from view "like an apparition," said staff at Nasa Earth Observatory.
The island appeared 15 miles off eastern Azerbaijan.
