'Bin the cruel rules that police widows can't find new love'
Daily Express
|March 25, 2025
POLICE widows forced to make a choice “between love and money” will bring their fight for justice to Parliament this week.
Current rules mean they will lose their pension entitlement if they find love again and remarry, or even live with a new partner.
Campaigners say they are being punished for finding a second chance at happiness after a spouse passes away and are demanding change.
Women affected by the rules are to meet MPs at Westminster tomorrow in a delegation organised by the National Association of Retired Police Officers.
It is led by actor Graham Cole, who became an honorary member of the association after playing PC Tony Stamp on TV's The Bill.
