BEACHCOMBER 108 YEARS OLD AND STILL BIASED TOWARDS CATS

SQUIGGLY, my feline companion, usually wakes me up in the morning to demand breakfast, but the other day surprised me by asking whether I had read the December 2024 number of Animals journal.

When I told him I had not yet got around to it, he looked disapprovingly at me and said there was a very interesting article about black cats in it.

Dragging the heavily clawed issue over to me he flicked it open to reveal a paper with the title 'Explicit and Implicit Measures of Black Cat Bias in Cat and Dog People'.

"Intriguing," I said, "but it doesn’t really apply to you as you're a black-and-white cat." "More black than white," he insisted.
