Army garrison losing battle against rubbish

AN Army base that “resembles Birmingham” with litter piling high is prompting soldiers to consider quitting, the Express has been told.

Catterick garrison in North Yorkshire is one of the largest in the country and houses personnel from the Royal Lancers, Intelligence Corps, the Royal Yorkshire Regiment and the Royal Military Police.

But disgusting pictures show litter overflowing from bins, which is contributing to poor morale.

A captain who deals with complaints of soldiers and their families said that the site has started to “resemble Birmingham” - a reference to the lengthy bin strike where rubbish has been piled high on the streets.
