Almost 100 tourists sue after falling ill at luxury spa resort
Daily Express
|April 10, 2025
SCORES of British tourists are suing a holiday firm for up to £500,000 amid claims of a food poisoning epidemic at a luxury spa resort.
Holidaymakers, including dozens of children, who fell ill at the four-star Mukarnas Spa Resort in Turkey, have blamed undercooked kebabs and human waste and vomit allegedly floating in swimming pools.
Some say they still suffer the effects of their illness three years later.
Nearly 100 people, who paid up to £5,000 for their breaks at the Antalya area resort from May to September 2022, are suing Jet2Holidays at the High Court in London.
Outbreak
Jet2Holidays denies liability, saying the source of the sickness and diarrhoea outbreak came from outside the resort. It also denies bad food and hygiene allegations and says the spa took all reasonable steps to contain the epidemic.
The 1,100-bed Mukarnas Spa Resort's website says it "offers a high level of comfort for your unforgettable family holidays".
