All Nationwide branches stay open until 2030

NATIONWIDE is bucking Britain's bank closure trend, with the building society vowing to keep all of its UK branches open until at least 2030.

The pledge - which has been extended by two years - also covers Virgin Money sites following Nationwide's takeover of the firm last year.

It means customers from both brands will have a counter service on the high street for the rest of the decade.

While banks continue to shut branches and fuel the switch to online and mobile banking, Nationwide said it has seen an 11% increase in people using its branches over the past year.
