Duke's legal battle over security

Al Qaeda called for Harry 'to be murdered'

AL QAEDA called for Prince Harry to be killed after his level of security was downgraded by the Home Office following his resignation as a working member of the Royal Family, the Court of Appeal heard.

The command came after Harry boasted about the number of Taliban fighters he killed in Afghanistan in his best-selling autobiography Spare, it is claimed.

In written submissions for the Duke of Sussex some of which were redacted for confidentiality reasons Shaheed Fatima KC said Al Qaeda had called for Harry "to be murdered" after the decision was made in February 2020 to change the level of security the duke is given while in the UK.

She said that Harry's security team were told the terrorist group had published a document which stated his "assassination would please the Muslim community".

Protection

Harry is challenging the dismissal of his High Court legal action against the Home Office over the decision of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC).

It decided he should have a different level of protection when in the UK because he had stepped down as a full-time royal.
