WALES are at their lowest ebb ever, the new world rankings have confirmed.

They have slumped to 14th in the global rankings following Saturday's defeat by Japan.

Having previously sat 12th, Matt Sherratt's side have been overtaken by Japan and Samoa in the latest round of rankings, which were officially published on Monday.

It is the latest in a series of unprecedented depths that will only serve to underline the feeling of accelerating decline within the Welsh game.
