JAPANESE console giant Nintendo has built its reputation on revolutionising the gaming world many times over during the company’s illustrious history.
Its hardware has always pushed the boundaries, routinely bringing in features that have eventually become standard across the board.
Flagship console launches don’t come around very often - the launch of the Switch 2 last week came some eight years after the first Switch.
That device was certainly a revolution - a console you could play three ways. Attach it to a TV for the big-screen experience, sit it on a table-top with the built-in stand. Or play hand-held for gaming on the go.
Expectations were high that the Switch 2 would bring something new to the table again, but those hopes were dashed when the actual device was revealed.
There is some new stuff to talk about beyond just a few new games, but it builds on the first Switch rather than reinvents it.
