PUNDIT SURPRISED TO SEE ONE-TIME SKY BLUES 'TARGET' HEAD TO LEAGUE RIVALS
-
PUNDIT Don Goodman says he was “surprised” to see Bristol City win the race to sign Emil Riis, a player linked with Coventry City.
The Sky Blues had been credited with an interest in Danish striker Riis who has been a thorn in their side for the last four seasons with Preston North End after he became a free agent.
A mobile number 9 with a powerful shot, Riis has scored against Coventry in each of the last four Championship campaigns, scoring the winner on three occasions (twice at Deepdale and once at the CBS) while also notching in the first minute of North End’s 3-0 victory in the West Midlands in February 2024.
But while the Sky Blues and Sheffield United were reportedly interested in the 27-year-old, he has now put pen to paper on a three-year contract with Bristol City. Riis scored 12 goals for Paul Heckingbottom’s Preston last term and becomes a third signing for new Robins Gerhard Struber.
