Plans for new city restaurant & roof terrace

AN application which plans to turn a site that was once a long-established betting shop into a new restaurant with a roof terrace looks likely to go ahead - despite concerns raised by the community.

The shop in question is located on the corner of Church Lane and Walsgrave Road, opposite the Rose and Crown pub.

Earlier in the year permission was recommended to be granted but with a number of conditions - two of which have been signed off by planning officers this week bringing the scheme closer.

But letters submitted by members of the community to planning officers raise concerns relating to parking, too many food outlets and worries about antisocial behaviour.

For years the site was home to a Ladbrokes before it became a bargain shop when the bookies closed. Now work looks likely to start which would give the spot a completely new lease of life.
