MOTORISTS WARNED OVER M42 CLOSURES AND DIVERSIONS
Coventry Telegraph
|April 26, 2025
MOTORISTS on the M42 have been alerted to upcoming slip road closures and diversions for parts of next week.
-
National Highways has cautioned drivers in the Midlands they will need to follow a diversion route as safety and capacity enhancements are carried out on the busy stretch of motorway near Birmingham Airport.
The slip lane closure will occur near the Birmingham Airport M42 airport road which exit, but it is anticipated that disruption near BHX will be minimal. Drivers have been reminded that they can use a new airport road which opened in December last year.
The closures will take place overnight and will affect drivers from Solihull, Birmingham, Coventry and beyond. As part of the slip road closures, motorists have been advised to use the new A4545 to access the A45 westbound and Birmingham Airport.
Overnight closures will affect the northbound M42 junction 6 entry and exit slip roads on Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 April. Traffic management is being removed to restore two lanes on the entry to the motorway.
