Appeal to help more disabled residents into work
Coventry Telegraph
|February 02, 2026
COVENTRY City Council has been urged to help more disabled residents into work and support employers in making the lives of those in employment easier.
The idea was put forward by Labour's Cllr Kevin Maton during the latest finance and corporate services strategy board meeting.
Cllr Richard Brown, the cabinet member for strategic finance and resources, told the meeting that for the first time in more than a decade there might be cash available after funding had been allocated to all the council's essential services.
There will be a vote on the council's budget for the coming 12 months at a full council meeting.
He said: “The budget that comes before you will not be proposing any service cuts and there may be some financial headroom. During consultation we are asking, if there is some financial headroom, where is this best applied.
