South West Water chief’s tenure was mired in mistakes

THE resignation of Pennon Group chief executive Susan Davy is to be welcomed.

Almost since she took on the role of chief executive five years ago, Ms Davy’s position as head of the utilities giant that controls South West Water had been mired in controversy as the firm lurched from crisis to crisis.

Sewage spills were regular occurrences, frequently forcing people to have to miss out on swimming around our coastline or in our rivers.

There were complaints about water leaks not being fixed quickly, abject service, and customers paying an ever-increasing price to fund South West Water's shortcomings.
