Cobden among the best
Central Somerset Gazette
|April 24, 2025
LYDFORD on Fosse jockey Harry Cobden has been one of the most successful jockeys competing in the UK.
-
Last year’s jockey champion is on course to finish third this season, and is also sat behind Harry Skelton in the inaugural David Power Jockeys’ Cup.
Racing experts at OLBG revealed before the Grand National Festival that Cobden has earned over £18m in career prize money, sitting below only Skelton and Sam Twiston-Davies who is believed to have earned over £22m.
Cobden was also amongst the jockeys past and present to have visited the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital on the eve of the Grand National, along with the likes of Nico De Boinville, Twiston-Davies, Skelton, Rachael Blackmore and Sir AP McCoy.
The stars had their pictures taken with staff, patients and parents and handed out signed jockey goggles and racecards, as well as teddy bears.
The 2012 Grand National winner, Neptune Collonges, joined them and the famous grey horse put smiles on the faces of everyone as he posed for pictures at the Liverpool hospital, as part of the annual visit organised by The Jockey Club.
