RESIDENTS of Tshikota's Diep Six section finally received some relief from years of water shortages, thanks to a new water station installed and handed over to the community on May 26 by WG Wearne Aggregates Makhado.
For years, the poverty-stricken community, particularly women and children, had been walking long distances to reach a single communal tap serving more than 200 households. Local taps had been dry since the village borehole broke down several years ago, and efforts to get the Vhembe District Municipality to repair it had not been successful.
