"The burden of history: how long will our generations continue to bow down?"
Capital Information
|May 06, 2025
"History is not only a mirror of the past; it is also the basis of the vision of future generations." But sadly, this mirror has been blurred in the current educational structure of India. The way the glitter of Mughal courts, the bravery of foreign invaders, and the symbols of slavery have been placed at the center of Indian history is not only intellectual injustice but also the seed of cultural inferiority.
After all, for how long will our children be burdened by the Mughal rulers? For how long will our new generation consider the swords of Aurangzeb, Babur, and Khilji as ideals and remain unaware of the stories of their great ancestors? This is not just a question of the education system; it is a question of our soul and identity.
Chanakya: Strategy and the Brain of the Nation
Chanakya, also known as Kautilya or Vishnugupta, was no ordinary statesman. He was a scholar of politics, economics, and diplomacy. This thinker, who wrote a book like 'Arthashastra,' was not only a teacher of a king; he was a guide who made the emperors understand national duty. But have Chanakya's principles got the place in our curriculum that they actually deserve?
The policy understanding of any nation is formed by the philosophy of its thoughtful leaders. Chanakya's principles are still relevant in the fields of governance, diplomacy, and administration. But when only 2-3 lines are found in the name of Chanakya in history books, then it is understood how much artificial shadows have covered the sun of knowledge.
Chitragupt: The ancient accountant of Dharma and Karma
Chitragupta-a name that has been limited to religious beliefs only, but his importance was that of a very high-class social administrator. He is considered a god who keeps account of karma, but its wider meaning is not taught to today's generation. Chitragupta is a symbol of the tradition of justice and responsibility, which is the backbone of Indian philosophy.
