Sundar strikes twice as Eng slump to 175/6 at Tea
Capital Information
|July 14, 2025
India made significant inroads on Day 4 of the second Test at Lord’s, reducing England to 175 for 6 at Tea after a commanding bowling performance led by Washington Sundar and Mohammed Siraj. With the pitch offering variable bounce and drift, the visitors surged ahead in a match hurtling toward a result.
-
England began the morning at 2/0 and reached Lunch at 98/4, but the slide continued post-break despite a brief resistance from Joe Root and Ben Stokes, who stitched a
67-run stand for the fifth wicket. However, Root's dismissal for 40 in the 43rd over triggered a fresh collapse.
It was Sundar who landed the decisive blows after Tea approached. First, he broke the growing Root-Stokes partnership, bowling Root (40 off 96) behind his legs with a drifting delivery that snuck through during an attempted sweep, eerily similar to Harry Brook's earlier dismissal. The wicket came at a crucial moment, just after England crossed the 150-run mark.
