Red alert in Dakshina Kannada, families shifted

With intense rainfall continuing to batter coastal Karnataka and a red alert in place, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan has ordered the evacuation of families living in vulnerable houses and directed all taluk control rooms and the Mangaluru City Corporation to function round the clock.

The deputy commissioner instructed tahsildars and incident commanders to remain on high alert and ensure the readiness of rescue equipment to prevent loss of life. Any negligence in disaster response operations will be dealt with strictly, he warned.

Muhilan and Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner Ravichandra Naik visited flood-affected areas in the city and inspected waterlogged localities, including Pumpwell. They reviewed drainage-related issues with field officials.

In Attavar and other parts of central Mangaluru, heavy rainwater entered houses, affecting several families.
