Mangaluru murder a religious revenge act: Minister Gundu Rao

Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Thursday condemned the brutal murder of Abdul Rahim, a 34-year-old mosque secretary, in Mangaluru, describing it as a targeted act of religious revenge and a dangerous sign of growing communal polarisation.

The hacking to death of Abdul Rahim, on Tuesday in Bantwal taluk of Mangaluru district, is suspected to be a revenge killing in retaliation for the murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty.
Minister Gundu Rao described Abdul Rahim as an “innocent man with no criminal background” and expressed shock at the nature of the attack.
"Killing someone just to send a message of revenge — what kind of humanity is this?" Rao asked, visibly emotional. "Rahim was a well-respected member of society. This kind of cold-blooded revenge killing is unacceptable in any civilised society."
