Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha stated today that the state's healthcare system must adapt to the growing burden of lifestyle-related diseases, which are overtaking infectious ailments as the primary health challenge.

Addressing a review meeting with senior health officials at the Aarogyasri Trust Office on the establishment of new dialysis centres, the Minister expressed concern over the sharp rise in kidney and cancer cases.

“When dialysis services began in 2009, there were 1,230 patients. Today, the number has crossed 12,000 and continues to grow,” he noted.
