The Telangana Working Journalists Federation (TWJF), Mahabubnagar district unit, has vowed to continue its fight for the housing rights of poor journalists, as its ongoing relay hunger strike reached the 8th consecutive day at Dharna Chowk.

District President Vakita Ashok Kumar asserted that the movement will persist until the government responds with a concrete resolution.

Ashok Kumar called for a unified struggle, urging journalists from all sectors—print, electronic, cable, YouTube, and mainstream media—to set aside differences and join hands. He emphasized the urgency of forming a Joint Action Committee (JAC) and warned that a state-wide pen down strike could be initiated to intensify the agitation if the government continues to remain silent.

As part of the day's events, a memorial meeting was held in honor of late journalist Narasimha. Senior advocate and former Public Prosecutor Bekkam Janardhan paid floral tributes and expressed support for the journalists' cause. “Journalists are only seeking a home—a basic, rightful demand. The government must act now,” he said.
